Halm 2010 is an initiative by Sparbanken Syd to attract more visitors to Ystad/Österlen.

The vision is as follows:
The Ystad/Österlen region will become the leading northern European centre for straw with regard to its practical and creative use.

Halm 2009 will involve a broad spectrum of the population with farmers, artists, non-profit associations, scientists, architects etc. striving to develop the application of straw within various areas, such as fodder, food, heating, hotbeds, construction, entertainment, straw sculptures and landscape enhancement. The project is a long-term venture in giving straw, hay and silage a more prominent and visible position in Ystad/Österlen.
